So Much News.. So Many Thoughts

I have been neglecting this space for a few days while recovering from my mad coding dash last week. I rolled out a restricted beta to a few of my customers, and initial reactions are very positive. Now I have a bunch of “tweaking” to do, but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting closer, and I imagine I will soon be moving on to more interesting projects.

Now, a lot of different stuff has been going on in the world, and I thought I might bring some of it to your attention.

Watch Your Surfing!

If you are a Charter Communications ISP customer, you might want to think about either changing your carrier, writing your congressperson, or changing your surfing habits. News is that Charter will start monitoring the surfing habits of it’s customers and selling that information to add networks so “improve” your websurfing experience, and enhance “customer satisfaction”.

Basically the whole process involves the concept of deep packet inspection. The ISP (Carrier) will begin to examine the contents of the individual packets exchanged between you and whatever server you happen to be “visting”.

So what you might ask? Well, for starters, the ISP will know begin to know more about you than your own family members. All of your surfing will be inspected, and that information provided to “authorized third parties”. Do you get to decide if you want to participate, NO. Do you get a say in who has access, NO. Does the potential exist for this detailed profile of information to be abused by the company or the government, YES.

So, think carefully about encrypting your internet traffic, and allow me to introduce you to TOR - The Onion Router.

Our President Likes Bad Mouth His Own Country When Overseas

Recently, while speaking at the 60th anniversary celebration of the founding of Israel at the Knesset, our President decided that the best way to improve the perception that Israel and the world has of the Democratic Party was to call them the equivalent of Nazi Appeasers. Of course, there is a long standing tradition that while the President is overseas, he represents the whole government, so speaking ill of one part or another is considered bad form and not done.

But hey, this is “Go it alone” King George, and no one tells the king what to do. The President’s argument, such as it is, is that talking to foreign powers we disagree with politically is appeasement, and we all know what happened when people appeased the Nazis.

Except, well, the President has a problem, he would need to fire his own staff because they have long been calling for talking to some of these countries, including Iran. The President himself has spoken with the leader North Korea, has made deals with Libya, and supported dialog with countries like Sudan. Now, that is just a short list of countries we are politically (and I argue socially) opposed to, and our President has had dialog with them. Should we also now label him an appeaser?

If I believed in god, I would curse him for giving us this no talent ass clown as our leader, but since I can’t blame something I don’t think exists, I must instead blame my fellow citizens, who voted for him gladly.

One More Space Craft About to Land On Mars

Next week, a new Mars exploring spacecraft will land on our neighbor planet and begin doing some new and cool science. This time the spacecraft will attempt to land in the Polar regions of the planet, where water ice may be present. It is hoped that the experiments on the craft will be answer questions relating to the history of martian ice, and can the arctic regions support life (Martian or Human). Some interesting stuff indeed.

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT. BUSH DIDN”T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE DEMS. This is what Bush actually said. It also is policy that the congress say nothing bad about the president overseas. Why did they think he was talking about them?

I would never curse others for how they vote. I wouldn’t even blast someone for voting for Obama. Would I think they are stuipid for voting for him. MAYBE? But its their vote and their right. Why is it that people who vote for someone are chastized for their right as an American to vote for who they like.

We should be celebrating our rights as Americans. Not dividing each other because of how we vote.

Everyone thinks Bush is an idiot. Bush graduated with a high GPA than your John Kerry.

Here is my view on things. American’s need to grow some balls. Stop acting like SHEEP. Go talk to your enemies. While you do that they are laughing at you and making plans to pick off the week sheep one by one. I’m going to be the sheep dog. When the wolf comes around to pick off one of you week sheep, I’ll kick his ass for you and then you can live another day to make fun of and misrepresent what others say. Eventually the sheep dog gets tired and he turns on the sheep. He feeds them to the wolves. It’s called a revolution. Don’t worry. The sheep dog will win because the sheep don’t have guns.

I do have my facts straight. Just who do you think he is referring to in that speech? He is referring to those people who advocate attempting dialog. Now, the group in the US most currently vocalizing that policy is the Democratic Party (and most recently, at the time of that speech, Obama during a recent series of speeches just before Bush’s speech in front of Knesset). But in fairness to you, he did not use the words Democrat or Obama. But, I would also say, that the point he was trying to make is that those groups who do advocate attempting dialog are to be lumped into the same category as Nazi appeasers. And it just so happens that back home, the largest group saying that happens to be the party in opposition.

And I do curse people for voting for Bush. Specifically for voting for him the second time around. I curse myself, and all Americans for being blinded by fear, to signing away our liberty and freedom for a false sense of security. I curse us all for putting in power a man who would destroy the very things we claim to stand for. The point of my speech was I can’t blame Bush for the decisions he makes, so much as I can blame us, the American people for allowing him to make them. I put the shared responsibility where I should, with the man who makes the decisions, and the people who let him make them.

And I flatly call you deluded if you think that Bush some how did better in school or tested higher. You think he got into Yale on merit. BUHAHAHAHAH. The man can barely read or speak, and that is clear from his many speeches. He reads from a prompter (which is fine, if I were in his position, I wouldn’t have time to memorize a speech, let alone write one), but he can’t even pronounce the words written for him. He demonstrates a consistently poor memory and lack of understanding of basic history, science, etc. A person who got into Yale on merit would not be in the same position I wager.

You say America needs to grow some balls, and I say America needs to grow up. You had your “big balled America ” for the last 8 years. Our country has invaded two countries in the last 8 years (And I think only one of them was remotely justified). We have killed tens of thousands of people with our big balls as you put them. Yet, we don’t have the big enough balls apparently?

Engaging your enemy with words does not mean appeasing him. You analogy is inaccurate, and to argue from analogy is the sign of a week argument. Your analogy implies that talking to your enemies is like some small geeky kid walking up to the bully and asking nicely for him not to hit him anymore. Clearly that is neither a good analogy, nor a representation of how such an asymmetric power dynamic should be recognized.

You need to recognize that the world does not work like you naive schoolyard view of it. That the view our glorious leader has, and it is just as flawed. There isn’t enough time to argue it completely here, but let me simply say that a strategy from out of the cold war might make more sense. Build large alliances, create economic prosperity, isolate and weaken your enemies political power while engaging its citizenry with news and information. Then sit back and watch the internal pressures do the job for you.

The Bush doctrine, ie. going it alone, has manifestly not improved our security, but has demonstrably weakened it. Opinion of the US in the world at large is the lowest in a century. More countries now, countries we have sent aid and money to, hate us now than ever before.

Talking to you enemies does not mean handing over things to them on a silver platter. As Roosevelt said, walk softly and carry a big stick. Who do you respect more (to use a weak analogy) the schoolyard bully who rants and threatens violence at the drop of the hat? Or, the quiet well spoken kid in the corner who never throws the first punch, but always wins the fight when he needs to? I’ll take the second.

FINALLY, this was not a well thought out response, but a kind of off the cuff one. I would love to debate some of these topics more. Pick some and lets go! :)

You should be cursing the opposition for putting up such a typical, unelectable “I’m better then you” liberal that only the far reaching lefties and hypocrites like the ones in this state could vote for. Had the Dumbocrats come to the table with a likeable candidate who was way left or a boring candidate who was remotely moderate they could have walked away with the last election. They put up such a bad candidate that the left wing media wasn’t even able to put them over the top. It was funny all of the mainstream national media polls had Kerry ahead, except I was watching realclearpolitics.com and their aggregate poll had Bush ahead by the margin in which he won the popular vote.

Looks like this time the Dumbocrats are trying option A, with the way left likeable candidate. I was going to guarantee that Obama picked a hispanic running mate, except they’re all illegal and can only vote in California which he’ll win anyway.

I know, I know you’re going to tell me how the media is not left wing. Open your eyes and admit that they are. Just because the national media is not as left wing as the Boston media doesn’t make them neutral.

Hence the rest of that paragraph, I do blame everyone. I blame the Bush voters, and I blame the Democratic party for sucking those big balls.

See there is a problem with your thought process. You might think we follow BUSH 100% of the time. Or we are blinded by fear. I’m not scared of anyone. Just airplanes. (personal fear of flying and it happend before 9/11) Actually, I disagree with Bush a lot of things.

Here are a few:

1) Tax Cuts - He should have cut taxes even more and raised taxes on liberals who want to pay more.
2) Borders - Close them off. Who ever says they are here for only picking vegies is full of shit. There are a lot of bad things they bring to our country like disease, crime, heathcare and much more. You don’t see the crime because you live in Boston. In Border states its a real problem.
3) Senior Drug Benefits- Who says that everyone who is a seasoned (no senior) gets free drugs. Not everyone needed free drugs. Waste of money
4) Social Security - He never made the changes he wanted.
5) Drilling for oil - It doesn’t matter how much he begs the Saudis for more oil. Most of their oil goes to China and Japan. Plus we cannot refine it!

So don’t say Bush voters follow him because we are scared. We voted for him because John Kerry was not a real choice for Conservative Americans.

Get over it. Bush won in 2000. Hanging Chads can only be counted so many times. Plus, they didn’t include the vote from the Military. If they did this he would have won by a lot more in Florida. It is funny how Liberals don’t want to count votes when it isn’t in their favor.

I feel sorry for Hilary. Barrack was given a free pass by the liberal media. He is for change but what has he really changed. I think the first thing he will change is all the test books to show there are 57 states of America. You talk about stupid people. 57 STATES? Come on, Bush knows that.

Here is one more thing. Since I am in a really pissy mood. I am not going to call him Barrack Obama. It is Barrack Hussein Obama. Also, he can take his racist pastor and his terriost buddies and suck on an egg.

Read the constitution. :We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Tell Barrack that it is a more perfect union and not perfect. And a social program is not a promotion but another gov’t program. Promoting doesn’t meen free healthcare, free drugs, free, free, free free. This also goes for Bush and his buddies for free tax credits to oil companies and any other person looking for a free handout.

Most Americans do not understand the form of gov’t they live in.

Oh, and here is some more famous words for anyone who thinks the popular vote is what matters. And you say us conservatives are idiots. F ME

Yes, Barrack Obama has a middle name that is shared with the late former-dictator of Iraq. But to ostracise him for his middle name is the epitome of ignorance. My middle name is Richard, but thankfully nobody ever associated me with Nixon, cause I’m not a crook.

I’ve also heard way too many people in the bible belt accept rumor as fact (e.g. Obama is a muslim and was sworn in using the Koran). Furthermore, If he changed it I think the folks at Fox News would’ve had a collective coronary (actually, this seems like a good idea now…”Hey, Sean Hannity!!”).

And if you think there aren’t christian radicals, there’s a documentary movie called Jesus Camp I’d like you to add to your NetFlix queue. (The nut jobs in the movie are all Bush supporters, btw)

No republican should talk about border control. Your party had the vast majority of both houses PLUS the white house for 6 years and still coudn’t get any shit done other than giving Big Pharma a payday (the Medicare Modernization act of 2003), screwing teachers (No Child Left Behind) outing a CIA agent (it happened, it was political, and Scooter fell on the sword) and molesting children in Florida (foley). They could have easily built a wall along the Rio Grande, told Big Pharma to get their act together and do some real R&D, and have the president stop signing bills with earmarks. Your party is based on the foundation of fiscal conservatism…but we’re ringing up record deficits (even sans Iraq), all while cutting funding for education. How is that fiscally conservative?

The fact remains we have a wasteful government that is in the pockets of special interests. the republicans have Big Oil, Big Pharma, and small business (which hires 80% of the illegal immigrants for labor) and the military. The democrats have the workers and teachers unions, who still have huge chips on their shoulders from getting screwed decades ago, but are corrupt nonetheless.

Lord John. Please do the following:
1) Build a wall, first with Mexico, then with Canada (might as well, eh?)
2) give the president line-item veto power (thus killing earmarks)
3) Make Nancy Pelosi an ambassador to Micronesia or Iran, your choice…just get her out of here.
4) kill the Rx drug plan. It’s not saving the seniors that much money (most of their drugs will be generic in 3-4 years anyways).
5) immediately stop bailing out any big corporations who f-up…including all these banks with their shady lending practices and the people who got duped into ARMs

You are right. Big corporations and special interest groups run this country. DEMS and REPUBS are just as guilty as the next guy. It doesn’t matter if you have a line item veto. Because Washington changes everyones mind once they start meeting with the guys who have the money.

This country was based on hard work. When the work was done the congress would meet and vote on a bunch of issues and then go back to their farms. Now they have fulltime positions being a stupid politician.

It is so funny, these a holes want to impose gas taxes on us and make us take national healthcare but when we want the free cars/gas cards, the health plan and retirement plan we are considered nuts.
