Democracy in Action

Apparently some Texas A&M students, eager to vote, took a page from the French and marched to vote during the opening of early voting. Texas has a reputation for Gerrymandering, and the district where this Texas A&M campus was no exception. It appears that the district moved the polling place 7 miles away from campus. The students didn’t take kindly to that, so they marched the 7 miles to the polling station, shutting down a highway in the process. Awesome! I love seeing young people motivated to vote. [Update] It appears this district has a history of problems, with the local DA threatening to fine students who register to vote, and closing voting locations. Federal officials have had to step in on several occasions. [/Update]
